Red light and Speed cameras

How fair do you think they are? If you let someone borrow your vehicle and they either run a red light or get caught speeding on those cameras you will get the ticket. A lot of car lots are having fits for that very reason. If someone robs a bank while using your vehicle should you have to take full responsiblity and go to jail for it? I personally dont like them for that reason but they have reduced the number of wrecks on Stone Drive in Kingsport. What do you all think?

I don't have a problem with them. and if you know someone well enough to let them borrow your vehicle they had better be stand up enough to say "I borrowed their vehicle and I was driving when the camera caught me speeding / running the light." if someone robs a bank while using your car then I would hope it was stolen and then if it was reported stolen I don't think they could have a case against you.

I dont know much about the technology of speed cameras, but red light cameras photograph the occupant of the vehicle. A coworker got a red-light ticket and she and her husband argued over which one of them was driving during that incident, until they pulled up the image that went with it - the husband was driving.

dislike them. My brother was behind me in traffic, we went into the light green... the light was turning yellow, the traffic in front of us stopped, and the camera got him.

He got the ticket, not because he ran a red light, but because traffic came to a hault and he couldn't go further. Has the speed listed on the ticket, he was doing 10 in a 45... $100... that's bull****

I'm not a fan at all. Never been ticketed by either, just think that they are all about the cash and the safety issue is simply used to appease the public while they rake in the $.

I do remember a case about a year ago were a guy was able to prove beyond any doubt that he and his car were several hundred miles from where he was was supposedly caught running a camera red-light. I'd like to know how that turned out if anybody remembers because the police were baffled by it, the people in charge of the technology were in denial, but he had ironclad proof.

Not all do that. It depends upon the arrangement of the cameras. A person I go to church with left his pickup with a garage in Kingsport to work on his truck. A month or so later he got a ticket in the mail and it was dated. When a guy at the garage took it for a test drive he had ran a read light. The garage did take care of the fee.

Even if the fee is taken care of by the guilty party doesnt the points still go against the vehicles owner thus making their insurance go up? I think that if they are going to use the cameras then it should photograph the occupants face also.
